General Discussion CNC Milling Cad Cam Control

9 posts in this topic

What's your favorite milling software, cad and cam?

I'm using Mach3 for control, Alibre and Fusion 360 for cad and an old version of Alibre cam.

I'm currently using UCCNC for machine control, SketchUp for design and export. Mastercam for design alterations and G-Code. Fairly happy with current software but haven't really pushed any limits to know if it is the best choice.

Have to find a mini computer that will run windows xp. Wonder how well the raspberry pi runs xp? Wonder if mach3 will run on the pi.

Mach3 won't run on 64bit operating systems using the parallel port.

Big ask for the Pi but curious to know if you can.

I spoke to the admin here for advice and nope, the pi isn't going to cut it. Rather, won't be cutting any pie? lol

Loved mach3, absolutely loved and still like Vectric Aspire. Aspire is wonderful if you're into woodworking.

UCCNC does better vectoring than Mach3 apparently, but don't know enough about either to say, but it is what I hear.
